The Crew
I'm thrilled to be working with Terry Coffey on our first film project together. Terry is a talented writer with a head full of wit. He's written many short stories, including Dry Fly Gospel, available at Amazon.
About Dry Fly Gospel:
The stories which make up the collection "Dry Fly Gospel" share the common theme of fly-fishing. The characters struggle with major life changes, and in many cases receive a certain amount of inspiration and spiritual solace and renewal through the act of fly-fishing.
Terry and I used to work together in a small company's advertising department. Over lunch breaks we used to sneak-away to a conference room with Roy Smith to record the next installment of The Bionic Genius Roundtable, a comedy podcast featuring interviews with fringe internet "stars". To say the least, it was awesome amounts of fun.
We've recorded a few shows in 2009, and if Roy says yes, we'll be back for a few special shows (and possible bachelorette parties and barmitzfas).
Terry isn't new to the world of filmmaking. In 2005, he and Jeffrey Crone formed the production company Reel Pie {IMG}, to produce a project called Small Town Scenario.
About Small Town Scenario:
We go to small towns with the equipment and some ideas, and recruit volunteers to produce, write, direct, act in and edit a short movie based on one of those ideas. When it's done, we show it someplace in the town, and get reactions from people who made it and people who see it. While they make their movie (and we advise/help edit), we shoot them behind-the-scenes, reality-show style. Then, we put together four episodes based on the process, using the final episode to show the movie and the reactions.
Pictured left-to-right: Terry Coffey, Jeff Crone and Stephen WinslowThrough this process, we hope to show the history and current state of small towns, the pride and/or angst present among small town residents, how people in small towns interact, and also, what happens when you give a camera and an idea to regular people and say, "tell a story, make a movie?"
Visit the Reel Pie Blog for more info.
Since he's such an awesome guy, I've invited Jeff to be our cinematographer, and have also asked Sci-Fi mastermind/production genius (and insane Star Wars collector) Stephen Winslow to help in the role of AD/Costume Minstrel. Steve also worked on Small Town.
Steve Winslow enamored at himself during Small Town Scenario.
My name is Alan Houser. I'm the Co-writer/Producer/Director of Socketcreep. I'm also the orator of this blog, so I won't prattle here about my life. In short, I'm a User Experience Designer who lives in a barn. I'm a mass-consumer of coffee, monster, bacon, movies, music and internet.
